Just like Batik itself, Yingen Batik came from a ‘blank canvas’ just waiting for a splash of color. It all started in the early 2000s when the passionate founders wanted to share their love of traditional Batik with the world. Not long after, Yingen Batik was established as a Batik trading company in 2006.
Devoted to enhancing the Batik tradition, Yingen Batik is bringing out the potential of Batik for everyday casual apparel for all. Influenced with inspirations and ideas, the designers go through elaborate creative processes to make exclusive and intricate Batik designs.
Thus, it is our mission to produce authentic Batik products created with premium fabrics and materials for ultimate comfort and charm that preserves the legacy of Batik.
From Then until Now
Our Batik journey started in 2006 when the Batik industry was heavily concentrated in Kelantan and Terengganu, East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia.
Our founder, S.C. Teoh had the unique opportunity to visit Kelantan. She was soon deeply attracted to the beauty of traditional batik. Fascinated by how an initially plain white cloth could turn into a piece of artwork that people wore on special occasions. Thus, she envisioned a future where Batik would be internationally recognized.
Empowered by this vision, S.C. Teoh started a small Batik trading company and traveled back and forth from Kelantan to other states in Malaysia to deliver high-quality Batik fabrics. After years of exposing herself to countless Batik designs and techniques, she decided to have her own factory where she could freely design her own Batik, patterns, and colors for her customers. It was then that Yingen batik had its own Batik manufacturing facility in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
